My Pet Rabbit, Fluffy

I have a pet rabbit named Fluffy. She has soft white fur and long ears that flop down. Fluffy lives in a hutch in the backyard. Every morning, I feed her fresh lettuce and carrots—her favorite food. She nibbles slowly, and her nose twitches quickly. I let her run around the yard every afternoon. She likes to jump over small sticks and hide under the apple tree. Last week, I bought her a small toy ball. She pushes it with her nose and chases it around. Taking care of Fluffy teaches me responsibility. I clean her hutch every Saturday and change her water every day. When I’m sad, I sit next to her hutch and pet her. She calms me down. My little sister loves Fluffy too—she makes flower crowns for her, but Fluffy usually shakes them off. Fluffy is a sweet pet. I want to build her a bigger hutch with a sleeping area and a play area.

A Sunny Day Birdwatching in the Mountain

My dad and I went birdwatching in the mountain last Sunday. We brought binoculars and a bird guidebook. The first bird we saw was a red-billed leiothrix—its feathers were bright yellow and red. We spotted a woodpecker pecking a tree; the sound echoed in the forest. Dad pointed out a kestrel flying high in the sky, looking for food. I took photos of the birds with my dad’s camera, being careful not to make noise. A park ranger told us the mountain has over 50 kinds of birds. We sat on a rock and ate sandwiches, listening to the birds sing. On the way back, I saw a nest with baby birds. Birdwatching taught me to appreciate quiet moments. I learned that the mountain is a home for many beautiful creatures.
