Watching Fireflies in the Park

Last summer evening, I went to the park with my family to watch fireflies. As the sun set, tiny green lights started blinking in the grass. I held my dad’s hand and walked slowly, afraid to scare them away. A firefly landed on my sleeve—it looked like a living star. My little sister chased them, laughing as they flew just out of her reach. We brought a jar and caught two fireflies to look at, then let them go right away. Mom told me fireflies glow to find mates, and their light is cold, not hot. I sat on a bench and watched the fireflies dance in the dark. It felt like being in a fairy tale. Before leaving, I made a wish that the fireflies would always have a clean place to live. That night, I dreamed of flying with a swarm of glowing fireflies.
